  • On confirmation of pregnancy the patients are asked to supply the surgery with their up to date details in order that the midwife may contact them to arrange a booking.
  • The midwife will then arrange blood tests, scans and antenatal screening.
  • Should any problems be identified then the patient will be referred to a GP or obstetrician as appropriate.
  • Following delivery the midwife will  continue to care for the patient until the 28th Day.
  • Health visitor will contact the patient around the 11th day.

If a smear is due then it is suggested that the patient wait until 12 weeks post delivery. This can be performed at the post natal examination.
